August 8 - Rain, Rain Stay Away, Don’t Come Back This Friday

After yet another rainout the Johnson Boyz were back in action this past weekend at Beaumont, Texas’ Motorama Speedway.

With eight rainouts so far this year—yes, over half of the scheduled races for this season—the racing has been hit and miss. Unfortunately, this scenario is even worse for a new comer like Jonathan Johnson trying to get seat time. The team’s last race was July 13, which came to an early end due to a hard heat-race accident. With repairs made, Jonathan, Glen and crew-chief Bobby Martin were ready for more as racing commenced this past Friday, August 3.

The night began with a last (7th) place start for the second heat race, where Jonathan worked his way up to fourth. Therefore, this newly gained positioning lead to an inside row-five starting position in the feature for the 25 year-old modified rookie. An early race spin to avoid an accident put Jonathan to the rear only to work his way back up to eighth for the evening’s final standings. Thus, with this 8th place finish, Jonathan moved to sixth in Motorama’s Points Standings and stands a good chance for a top five finish before the end of the season. As another consistent outing for the team ends, Johnson Boyz Motorsports looks forward to this weekend’s racing action.

“I am really having a lot of fun in the modified class. The competition is very tough, the cars are challenging to drive and our good friend Bobby Martin is a real asset to my racing activities,” states team driver Jonathan. “More than having a wealth of knowledge of high-performance engines, Bobby has some high-revving burgers that are becoming widely known around the pit area. I hope that this weekend we will be able to continue our progress with the modified and my driving. The following week (August 17) is an off week for our class. We are taking full advantage as Dad and I will be making a trip north, which should provide for some exciting things to come in the near future for Johnson Boyz Motorsports. We want to invite everyone out for a night of fun and entertainment this Friday at Motorama. See you at the races!” concludes Johnson.

June 22 - Johnson Boyz Motorsports returns to Motorama Speedway for the ASCS Gulf South vs. Coastal Region Challenge. With nearly 40 sprinters pre-registered, tonight’s action will bring many fans to the 3/8 mile high-banked oval. Jonathan Johnson, team driver, enters the night with high-hopes, after a weekend off due to heavy rains in Southeast Texas.

“This should be an exciting evening for our team and marketing partners,” states Johnson. “We have put a great amount of preparation into the car to ensure a strong finish in-front of a packed crowd. We know how tough the competition is on a regular basis, so to say we are going to leave with a win would be a bit over-zealous. However, we do feel we have a strong car, and if things play out right a strong top-five is well within reach,” concludes Jonathan.

June 8 - Jonathan Johnson looks to return to action Friday, June 8th, at Motorama Speedway in Beaumont, Texas. Armed with a new engine from Joey’s Engines, a good finish is well within the teams reach. Glen and Jonathan have a great deal of confidence since the last outing when the team, along with Darryl Seals, Russell Moore, and Dirt Works Race Cars’ Andy Claiborne, worked to get a solid base-line set-up on the #71 Modified. Jonathan would also like to extend a “thank you” Bobby Martin and Chuck Dunlap for their hard work and assistance to get the car ready for this weekend.
